"The men who have guided
us down the river year after year; protecting us from
danger, allowing us to seek adventures in our own whacky
way, putting up with our painted faces and innertubes,
our crazy names and crazier behavior, have become more
than guides to us, they have become our friends."
- Sara, alias "Otter"
If you obey all the rules, you miss
all the fun.
... Katherine Hepburn
Ms. Hepburn's quotation
perfectly describes the fun-loving group that we have
had the pleasure of hosting for the past 22 years. They
call themselves The Bezerkleys because many of their early
members (and even most today) came from the Berkeley,
California area.
Ritch Davidson is one
of the original members of the group. His reflections
shadow the sentiments of many of The Bezerkleys. "We are
a group that is strongly bonded. Our five-day lodge trip
with WWW continues today because of that bond-within ourselves
and with your company.
"We revel in freedom
and having a sense of fun. We love to play. So, for many
of us, this trip is heaven on earth. For five days, there
is no happier place to be. Together we re-connect, engage
in fantastic conversations, celebrate the beauty of this
wonderful river, and just plain cut-up.
"Why do we keep coming
back year after year? First, I think it's the beautiful
setting of the Rogue River-the ecology, the wildlife,
the water. Second, WWW allows us to inner tube the entire
river. For us, this is key since we can be directly on
the water and negotiate all the rapids. Third, there is
a sense of family. Of course we have a bond to one another
(about half the group has made the journey 10 times or
more) but also there is a strong connection with WWW's
entire staff. From your office personnel to the guides,
your company evokes a sense of friendliness and family
to us."
The Bezerkeleys are people
we at WWW are proud to be associated with. They have been
good business partners to us. But, much more than that,
they have built a legacy that stands alone. A legacy that
we should all strive to achieve-enjoying each other's
differences while sometimes "breaking the rules a little"…just
to keep life stirred up and fun!
