Rogue River Rafting
Your Rogue River rafting trip runs through
a steep, heavily forested canyon that in many ways is a
time capsule, preserving centuries of lore and legend. The
Rogue Indians prospered along the Rogue's riverbank until
the mid-1800s. They were soon followed by gold miners who
flocked to the canyon in search of new-found riches.
Although some dreamers still pan for
gold in the Rogue's sandy washes, most visitors today are
lured by other precious commodities-the river's thrilling
white water rapids and spectacular geography.
The Rogue River's most coveted rafting
run is the "wild and scenic" stretch beginning at Grave
Creek and ending at Foster Bar. This is a rafting enthusiast's
dream, dropping through a series of spine-tingling rapids
separated by quiet, even-flowing pools, ideal for lying
back and gazing at the spectacular canyon scenery that slides
past.
Some of the historic sites along the Rogue include Black Bar Lodge, Marial Lodge, Clay Hill Lodge and Half Moon Bar Lodge. We often stop and hike into Zane Gray's Cabin or the beautifully restored Rogue River Ranch. This offers our clients the time to learn about the history and culture of the Rogue.
It's not just a rafting vacation because you are able to explore the Rogue's fish and wildlife that are so important to the Rogue's pristine qualities. You may see wild salmon, great blue herons, river otters and more.
