Rogue River Rafting: River Travel Options
The Rogue River’s whitewater rafting experience was created millions of years ago. The river’s home waters rise near the outer fringes of one of the Cascades’ now-extinct volcanoes: Crater Lake. Sitting deep within a circular rim of ashen cliffs, Crater Lake actually occupies the collapsed caldera of one of the biggest volcanoes ever to explode in the Pacific Northwest. Crater Lake’s other “claim to fame” is that it is the clearest, deepest lake in North America!
As the Rogue flows from Crater Lake and then west across the valleys of Josephine County, it does something few other southern Oregon Cascade rivers do: it blasts its way into the coastal range and cuts due west to the waiting water of the Pacific Ocean.
The Rogue is a unique Oregon whitewater river in one other way. Although the river courses through a vast wilderness area, it has a handful of riverside lodges that house whitewater rafters during their journeys down the river. WWW offers its guests 3-day, 2-night Rogue whitewater rafting lodge trips. At the end of each day, you’ll spend your evenings in a quaint wilderness lodge…imagine the joys of rafting the Rogue River and the pleasure of a bed, clean sheets, private bath, hot shower, and tantalizing home-cooked meals.
WWW also offers May, September and October 4-day, 3-night Rogue whitewater rafting camp trips. This “outdoor escape” is like no other camping experience you’ve ever had. Gourmet meals cooked riverside…are just the beginning of this vacation adventure!
